The business model

Here's exactly
how we make money.

No subscriptions. No AI markups. No compute revenue. We charge one thing, once a year, and only when you actively choose to publish through us.

What we charge
$1
per domain · per year

When you publish to a custom domain through our DNS integration (via entri.com), we make $1/year from the domain registration. That's the entire revenue model. One dollar. One year. One domain.

Always free — no catch

Unlimited subdomains

yourproject.fanva.app or any subdomain of your connected domain — always free.

Manual export & self-publish

Download your HTML. Upload to Vercel, Netlify, your own server — zero cost, zero questions asked.

Full local AI, forever

Generate as many designs as you want. No token metering, no rate limits.

Why this works

Publishing through us runs our DNS infrastructure and keeps the project funded. We appreciate it when you do. But if you want to export and host it yourself — no big deal.

When you publish through us you also get: password protection, public edit links (Google Docs-style), and invite-only access controls.

Publishing through us helps keep the lights on. That's the honest deal.

Core features

Six ways Fanva
changes the math.

01

Local AI model

Runs via Ollama, LM Studio, or llama.cpp. A bundled wizard gets you from zero to designing in under 5 minutes. Choose 7B for speed or 32B for quality. Works on Apple Silicon and mid-range NVIDIA GPUs.

02

Unlimited AI tokens

No API keys. No rate limits. No per-token billing. The model runs on your hardware — inference is free once it's installed. Generate designs all day. We don't see a cent of that.

03

One-click publish

Export full HTML sites to Cloudflare Pages in a single button press. Comes with custom domain guidance, password protection via Cloudflare Access, and Google Docs-style invite links.

04

Complete privacy

All AI inference is local by default. Your designs never touch our servers unless you choose to publish. No training on your data. No usage telemetry without explicit consent.

05

30+ AI models via MCP

Connect Higgsfield for Veo, Kling, and Flux image/video generation. Plug in your Claude API key for complex reasoning. Or bring any MCP-compatible provider you already trust.

06

Feedback-driven roadmap

Every feature request is tracked publicly. We build what users actually ask for — that's not a marketing line, it's the commit history. When we say something is coming, we build it.

Output formats

Every creative format you need. One tool. No cloud dependency.

Compute ownership

Your hardware.
Your AI. Your rules.

We work hard not to make money on your inference. Connect any AI source you already have or trust — we don't intermediate, markup, or resell any of it.

Local options

Your laptop

Mac with M1/M2/M3/M4 chip, or Windows with an NVIDIA RTX GPU. The bundled Ollama wizard handles the model download and setup.

A Mac mini in the corner

Have a spare Mac mini? Point Fanva at it. It runs a local Ollama server your whole household or studio can use.

Any Ollama-compatible endpoint

Self-hosted Ollama on a home server, NAS, or workstation. If it speaks the Ollama API, Fanva can use it.

Cloud options — you control costs

Cloudflare AI

Connect your own Cloudflare account. You pay Cloudflare directly at their published rates. We don't touch or markup the cost.

Any OpenAI-compatible API

Groq, Together AI, Fireworks, or self-hosted vLLM. Any endpoint that speaks the OpenAI chat completions format connects in seconds.

Claude API (advanced tasks)

Plug in your own Anthropic API key for long-context reasoning or complex creative workflows. Your key. Your bill. We never see it.

The permanent stance: The moment we start marking up inference is the moment we become the thing we built against. We won't do it. This is a design constraint, not a launch promise.
Side by side

Fanva vs. Canva Pro.
The honest comparison.

Feature Fanva Canva Pro
Monthly fee $0 — always $15 / month
Annual cost $0 forever $120–$180 / year
Cost over 10 years ~$10 (1 domain, 10 years) $1,200–$1,800
AI generation cost $0 — runs on your hardware Credits-based, add-on cost
Custom domain publishing $1 / year per domain Paid plan, complex setup
Unlimited subdomains Yes — always free Not available
Password-protected publishing Included via Cloudflare Access Not available
Public edit links Google Docs-style invite links No equivalent
Works offline Fully offline-capable Cloud-only, requires internet
Data privacy All inference local by default All data on their servers
Vendor lock-in Zero lock-in — export everything, host anywhere High lock-in — designs stuck in Canva format
Export: full HTML sites Full HTML, CSS, assets Not supported
Responds to feedback GitHub issues drive the roadmap Community vote board, slow turnaround

Canva raised prices ~30% in 2024. Their AI generation features remain paywalled. We're building the tool that doesn't do that.

Migrate from Canva

Get your work out
and never look back.

You've built a library in Canva. Getting your designs and brand assets out is simpler than it sounds — and you only have to do it once.

Typical migration time
~30 min

For a library of 50–100 designs with a brand kit.

What you keep

Your PNG/PDF exports, your brand kit colors and fonts, your templates (as references to recreate). The only thing you lose is the Canva subscription bill.

01

Export everything from Canva

Select your designs → Download as PNG, PDF, or PPTX. For your brand kit, go to Brand Kit → download logos, fonts, and note your color hex values.

02

Download and install Fanva

Grab the installer for macOS, Windows, or Linux. The setup wizard walks you through installing a local AI model via Ollama. Takes about 5 minutes on a fast connection.

03

Bring your brand into Fanva

Import your logos, upload your custom fonts, and enter your brand hex colors in the Brand Kit panel. Set it once — it's available in every design you make going forward.

04

Recreate your templates with AI

Describe your most-used Canva templates to Fanva's AI: "Create a LinkedIn post template using my brand colors and Playfair Display font." Drag your exported PNG in as a reference if needed.

05

Publish — and cancel Canva

Once your setup is working, publish your first project. Connect your domain for $1/year through us, or export HTML and host it yourself. Then go cancel your Canva subscription.

Ready to stop renting

Start designing
for free.

Download Fanva. No account required. Runs locally from minute one. The only time we ask for money is $1/year when you publish to your own domain.
